These pictures show some of the diversity and beauty in Southern California waters. The critters were shot at Shaw’s Cove, Laguna Beach, CA and the Kelp shot while at Catalina Island, Avalon Dive Park at Casino Point.

Farnsworth Banks

I've always said that of all the islands off of Southern California, Catalina has the best diving. The Hydro Corals, Electric Rays, etc. make this an awesome dive site. This a recent trip back to Farnsworth on 15Nov08 aboard the Magician.

Mandarin Lake

Mandarin Lake was one of those unexpected surprises while in Palau. The cave under the water leads to an above ground cave that’s only accessible from the submerged entrance just under the surface in this photo. The cave could easily hold 100 people. This picture was taken around Nov04. We spent one week in Trukk before we hopped over to Palau for the second week. From there we flew back to Hawaii for a final two days in Oahu.

Kona

In between dives in Kona we spotted some Pilot whales and I had to jump in to get as close as possible. What a blessing that was! We make it a habit to dive with Kona Honu Divers, and this trip was no exception.

Kona Underwater

My wife Kelly is posing for a picture during a dive in Kona. We had a great time exploring the Big Island and swimming with all the different inhabitants. This was also taken on our 07 trip back to Kona.

Manta dive

Truly, one of the most exhilarating dives of my career! The sheer excitement of being this close, and at times even closer, to such graceful and beautiful creatures is beyond words. To sit and observe the elegant dance that these creatures put on as they dine on the bounty all around them, is pure magic. That was a night I will never forget. This was the last dive on our 07 trip back to Kona and I wanted my wife Kelly, Dad Lawrence and father-in-law Al to experience these magnificent creatures up close for themselves. They still talk about that dive today.
